Parish Priest

The Reverend Father Edmund Eggleston,

K.G.C.O. (Two Sicilies),  M.A. (Oxon),  Cert.Arts (Bristol),  F.B.S.


Father Edmund Eggleston was appointed parish priest of Woodbridge and Framlingham parish by Bishop Michael Evans in September 2010. 

Father Edmund joined the Diocese of East Anglia in September 1997, having previously been a member of the Order of Saint Benedict.  He was ordained to the Diaconate in April 1993 and to the Sacred Priesthood in July 1994 at Downside Abbey, Somerset.  After priestly ordination, Father Edmund read modern history at the University of Oxford: B.A. 1997 and M.A. 2000.  He also holds a Certificate in Arts (History of Art) from the University of Bristol and is a Fellow of the Burgon Society.  At a ceremony held in Westminster Cathedral, Father Edmund was invested as a Knight of Grace and Chaplain to the Constantinian Order of Saint George (Two Sicilies), in November 2006.


Father Edmund has served the following parishes and hospital chaplaincies in the Diocese of East Anglia:-

1997-2001          St. Edmund's parish, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk,

2001-2003          St. Peter & All Souls parish, Peterborough,

1998-2003         Served hospital chaplaincy departments at West Suffolk Hospital NHS Trust and Peterborough District Hospital NHS Trust,

2003-2010          St. Dominic's parish, Downham Market, Norfolk, and

2010 -                Woodbridge and Framlingham parish, Suffolk.

Father Edmund was joined by parishioners, friends, and local clergy for the celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of his Ordination on 2nd July, 2019, at Saint Thomas's Church, Woodbridge.
